Notes From Pastor Dave
Spring is almost here! The new season brings both new and traditional opportunities, and we have many in the coming weeks, among our usual weekly and monthly gatherings here at Allenville that I hope that you can and will take part in:
The Cost of the Cross:
During this month of March our series of Messages from God’s Word has been focused on the topic “The Cost of the Cross”. We have outlined some of the deeper aspects of the price that Jesus paid for our sin, as well as the “benefits” of Jesus’ death on the Cross, taking our place that we who believe might be forgiven and have hope for both this life and the life to come. We will continue this theme through Resurrection Sunday.
Following are regular and special services for this season:
- Sunday, March 25, 9:00 a.m. – Palm Sunday Breakfast
- Sunday, March 25, 10:00 a.m. – Palm Sunday Worship Service
- Thursday, March 29, 7:00 p.m. – Maundy Thursday Communion Service
- Friday, March 30, 12:30 p.m. – Good Friday Service at Plymouth Church, 1325 Georgia Street, Oshkosh.
- Sunday, April 1 – 10:00 a.m. – Resurrection Day Worship Service
Please plan to join us as we worship our suffering, dying, triumphant and risen Lord!
Potluck Lunch and Quarterly Congregational Meeting
Sunday, April 15 following the Worship Service.
Please set aside the date of Thursday, May 10. More information will be available separately.
170th Anniversary Celebration – Sunday, June 10
On June 9, 1848, the Lord led a group of believing farmers and families in the Allenville area to organize what was then known as The First Free Will Baptist Society of Winnebago. The Lord has seen fit to continue to let the light of His Love and Word shine from what is now known as Community Baptist Church of Allenville. We want to acknowledge God’s faithfulness to us as a church as well as accept the challenge of continuing the mission of Loving God, Loving People, and Making Disciples of Jesus as He leads until He returns. Please set aside this date for a special worship service and luncheon. More details will be forthcoming as planning progresses.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. David Eisley, Pastor
