Notes From Pastor Dave

                                                 Continuing in September:

Adult Bible Class, Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall – “The Truth Project”

We have been working through this excellent video and discussion series during the summer, and have been challenged to think Biblically and to look at the world and culture we live in with a Christian Worldview.  Although we have learned some building blocks in developing a Christian Worldview, each class “stands alone” and provides takeaways that will develop in us a way to begin to look at the world from God’s perspective!  In the weeks to come, we will be looking at the most practical parts of the Truth Project. You are invited to join us!

  • Sunday Message Series:  “Joshua: Strong and Courageous” We have seen the hand of the Lord more than once this summer as we have seen the Lord “connect the dots” between the principles learned through the Truth Project applied in our study of Joshua’s conquest of Canaan during the Worship services.  We will continue working through the Book of Joshua throughout September and into October and discover that as the Lord used Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land, so He will use us to be His witnesses and ambassadors in 2017, right where we are, sharing the eternal inheritance that He has for each one who believes in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and is saved!
  • Summer Quarterly Congregational Meeting Notes:
    • Worship Service Time:  The Congregation agreed, after a short discussion, to continue our summer Sunday School and Worship Service times year-roundThis means that Sunday School will meet at 9:00 a.m., and the Worship Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. We hope that the continuity of our meeting times will avoid the confusion that sometimes occurs when we “change times”!
    • Position Statement on Biblical Marriage:  For some time, the church leadership has been concerned that clarity is needed regarding the communication of our Bible-based beliefs regarding marriage and the family.  The Conservative Congregational Christian Conference adopted such a position at its Annual Gathering last month. The Elders have reviewed this statement both prior to and following the Annual Gathering, and after making appropriate changes to wording for church use, proposed a position statement on Biblical Marriage for the Congregation to review, study, and to pray about adopting at a Congregational Meeting to be announced at some time in the future.  Copies are available for you on the table in the foyer or upon request. Any questions or comments can be directed to the Elders.
